It’s been a couple of weeks since I chimed in over at the gathering of Catholic bloggers aka Sunday Snippets, A Catholic Carnival…but I figure Father’s Day would be a good time to reconnect.
I don’t have much to add regarding the question of the week regarding the tradition of Sacred Heart Enthronement — it’s never been a big part of my spirituality or practice. I DO cherish the loving heart that Christ reveals to me, however — even more, today, as I look back on a very special Father’s Day weekend, which included the ordination of our eldest son. Here’s are some highlights of that happy event:
A blessed Holy Week to all…and an invitation: There’s a gathering of Catholic bloggers here at Rann’s place that you might find of interest as you begin your observance of this most holy time of the year.
Holiness has been on my mind in recent posts — including a reflection on the sometimes surprising shape of the holy things in our lives…and on remembering to invite God in to troubling circumstances, so that they can be redeemed.
What a blessing to know that Jesus is–indeed–With Us Still!
Save us, Savior of the world…for by your cross and resurrection, You have set us free!
Let us pause now…to recall that we are in the presence of the Holy One.
Heading into the home stretch on Lent this year… so how are those resolutions working out for you? You might find it fruitful to spend some of your time at Rann’s place…to check out what some Catholic bloggers have had on their minds in recent weeks.
My latest posts have touched on a number of subjects — including the spiritual link between two biblical women … thoughts about how gratitude is the best attitude when there don’t seem to be enough hours in the day … a reflection on the life-giving streams into which we sometimes accidentally step … and the grace to be found in the trying circumstances that sometimes surround us. Blessings to all!
Let us pause to recall that we are in the presence of the Holy One
The stockings are hung by the chimney with care…leaving just enough time for bloggers to gather ’round and share their stories by the fire. There’s a warm hearth for just that purpose at RAnn’s place for Sunday Snippets: A Catholic Carnival. Stop on by if you have a moment…
Another week zooms by – Gaudete Sunday is coming up – and that means it’s time for another blogger conclave at RAnn’s place for Sunday Snippets: A Catholic Carnival. Let’s see what’s in store…
I learned about Sunday Snippets — apparently, a virtual community of Catholic bloggers — from reading Kathleen Basi’s wonderful blog. I thought, what the heck? Why not join the fun?
I don’t have much to add on the current Question of the Week — “Do you have any recipe you make for religious reasons?” (Do Christmas cookies count? Or how about Kairos Prison Ministry cookies?)
But I did find a recent Question of the Week — “Who is your favorite saint?” — intriguing. All saints have been a blog topic of mine lately… including some thoughts on how many of us are going to be saved … and what it might be like to picture yourself (or one of your offspring) on a holy card.
And then there’s my attempt to answer the age-old Catholic question: If a child is ordained, or enters a religious order, does that mean the parents get a free ticket to heaven? (Just kidding…but I am serious about my experience of the sacramental nature of parenthood. See what you think about my position.)
