Today’s find: Christmas Conjunction
We stepped out onto our deck the other day, and saw something unusual in the gloaming: a celestial event some 800 years in the making.
Today’s find: The Star of Christmas
Ever notice? This time of year, the stars seem especially bright. It’s almost as if the sky is clearer…and the heavens are closer to earth… than they are in the summertime.

Today’s find: Homecoming
One of the first things you notice when you enter the gymnasium at De Smet Jesuit High School are the championship banners. There are literally dozens of them lining the walls, hailing the stellar seasons of bygone teams in basketball, soccer and many other sports.

Today’s find: What Mary Knew
A big part of our family got together for a Christmas celebration last night…and as I looked around the room at the three generations of Schroeders assembled…I was moved to consider what a blessing it is to have a loving family. Not a perfect family — not by a long shot. But certainly, a loving family. And in that love we share, we are witness to the greatest gift of all: God’s love for each of us.
I suspect it’s something like what filled Mary’s heart, when she first cradled her precious child. And so once again, I give thanks for the gift that children (and parents and grandchildren) are in my life.
Merry Christmas to all!
