Today’s find: Beginning…with the end in sight.

The ashes were all around me at Mass this morning, and yet I found myself drawn to a different word in the liturgy.

Today’s find: Mylar and My Lenten Heart

The mylar balloons have been there for a couple of weeks now…bumping up against the beams, in the highest reaches of our church building — a good 50 feet or so from the floor.

Out of reach…up against the rafters.

Sunday Snippets

How about heading with me over to Rann’s place, to catch up on some thoughts from other Catholic bloggers?

This week’s Question of the Week at Sunday Snippets — name a favorite book and tell us what you like about it — reminded me that I haven’t updated the list of “favorite books” on my company website for a long, long time. A resolution perhaps for the upcoming week? On a related note: I responded to a tip by “requesting” a copy of Michael O’Brien’s The Island of the World from the library this week…and was dismayed to discover that it runs nearly 1,000 pages long. A bit ambitious for a two-week library loan, I’m thinking. But I may very well add it to my Amazon.com wish list!

As for my blog posts this week: I recounted the circumstances around a little dance I did inside a prison last Saturday; and I reflected on benefiting from wisdom found in Ezekiel in mulling over my visceral response to one of the great issues of the day.

Let us pause now…to remember that we are in the presence of the Holy One.

Sunday Snippets

How about kicking off your Super Bowl Sunday with a little inspirational reading or reflection? You’ll find some starting points at RAnns place — where there’s a weekly gathering of Catholic bloggers huddled under the title of Sunday Snippets.

This week’s question:  What was the biggest change in your life recently? And that’s an easy one for me — our first grandchild came into the world a month ago Monday. She continues to delight us with her unique view on the world.

As for blogging this week: I wrote a reflection on a father’s role in encouraging religious vocations…and I said farewell to a dear friend and spiritual companion, one who is now a full-fledged member of the communion of saints.

Let us pause now…to remember that we are in the presence of the Holy One.

Today’s find: Anam Cara, Farewell

The first time I met Marge, I knew she wasn’t your typical 80-year-old. Like many her age, she certainly had a twinkle in her eye—but to my mind, it was her passion for mid-major college basketball that really set her apart.
