Sometimes, a little reluctance can be a barrier to some really big blessings.
Today’s find: Reluctance
Today’s find: Come again?
I’m a ‘word’ guy…and I’ve discovered that it’s either a blessing or a curse, the way my mind works.
Today’s find: Sunday Snippets
A busy week of family gatherings, and a busy week of blogging…at least by my standards.
But first things first:
Question of the week: What do you plan to do for Advent?
Today’s find: Thanksgiving
Turned on the TV last night, on the eve of Thanksgiving. Big mistake.
Today’s find: Rusty Wicket
Most folks who call St. Louis “home” can’t imagine our city without its trademark monument – the Gateway Arch. But we know now that the gleaming structure is not impervious to the elements.
Today’s find: Bebo & Iris
In a way, I feel like I lost an old friend…and gained one…this week. And no doubt, both of the objects of my affection would be surprised at the news.
Today’s find: Cabrini
It’s hard to keep a good woman down—a woman like Frances Xavier Cabrini, whose feast we celebrate today.
Sunday Snippets–Joining A Catholic Carnival
I learned about Sunday Snippets — apparently, a virtual community of Catholic bloggers — from reading Kathleen Basi’s wonderful blog. I thought, what the heck? Why not join the fun?
I don’t have much to add on the current Question of the Week — “Do you have any recipe you make for religious reasons?” (Do Christmas cookies count? Or how about Kairos Prison Ministry cookies?)
But I did find a recent Question of the Week — “Who is your favorite saint?” — intriguing. All saints have been a blog topic of mine lately… including some thoughts on how many of us are going to be saved … and what it might be like to picture yourself (or one of your offspring) on a holy card.
And then there’s my attempt to answer the age-old Catholic question: If a child is ordained, or enters a religious order, does that mean the parents get a free ticket to heaven? (Just kidding…but I am serious about my experience of the sacramental nature of parenthood. See what you think about my position.)
Today’s find: Numbers game
At times, some of the holy ones in our midst are inclined to focus on scarcity. Today, we celebrate a feast that counters this point of view. It seems to say to them, ‘Not so fast!’
