As sunlight faded on our socially-distant Good Friday in 2020, I noticed that our dogwood buds had just begun to open…and offer their beauty to the world…

Today’s find: Grand opening
Today’s find: Sorrowful mysteries
Beauty intrudes, like a gentle kiss from the Holy Spirit…
Today’s find: Seeking a quiet place
And so it begins, this most unusual of Triduum celebrations.
What I notice mostly is this: All of my “Holy Week” rhythms are “off” – completely out of whack.
Today’s find: Hot Wheels
We waited until we knew the grandsons were napping this afternoon… before making a “socially distant” drop-off of Easter goodies on their front stoop.
Somehow, the cloak-and-dagger tactics seemed to fit the day.
Today’s find: Provisioning
Covid-19 claimed another piece of normalcy today, and I felt the reverberations in my “lizard brain.”
It’s never good when that happens – when I sense that my “fight or flight” reflex has been activated. Oddly, the trigger in this case was a trip to the grocery store.
Today’s find: Palms, becalmed
Got my alarm set for Sunday morning, so that I can take advantage of the “drive-thru distribution” of blessed palms up at the parish.
And thus begins the oddest Holy Week I have ever experienced.
Today’s find: Course correction
Surely among the least of the deprivations caused by Covid-19, I note that today was SUPPOSED to be ‘Opening Day’ for our golf league.
Today’s find: Better, together
Day 8 of “shelter-in-place”: in which I disassemble a corded hedge trimmer, for parts.
Today’s find: ‘Yes’
Care to “shelter-in-place”? The answer, of course, is “yes.”
Today’s find: Marker
I had occasion to spend a little time at the Pool of Siloam the other day.
