O King of the Gentiles and the Desired of all, you are the cornerstone that binds two into one. Come, and save man whom you fashioned out of clay.
In these last days of Advent, we express our growing anticipation for the coming of the Savior with the O Antiphons — prayers, based on scripture texts, that have been part of the Church’s official evening prayer (or Vespers) for more than a thousand years.
For December 22 the title we use for Jesus is ‘King of the Gentiles, Desired of all’…
O King of the Gentiles and the Desired of all, you are the cornerstone that binds two into one. Come, and save man whom you fashioned out of clay.
Let us pause now…to recall that we are in the presence of the Holy & Merciful One.
