Luke includes an intriguing footnote to his version of the Passion story: “All his acquaintances stood at distance,” the evangelist says (Luke 23:49). And no doubt, this is part of the reason I’ve always tended to think of Jesus’ final journey as a LONELY one.
Springtime seems to be struggling a bit. It’s not catching on, not quite yet, in our part of the country.
But if you look closely, you can find the barest hint of the spectacle to come.
Daniel desires with all his heart to be free of the cell in which he is today imprisoned. He’s done hard time, more than a decade behind bars. He’s learned his lesson.
