Today’s find: Haunted
“It was night,” writes the Evangelist in the gospel passage we hear on Tuesday of Holy Week.
I am haunted by that night.
Today’s find: Seeking a quiet place
And so it begins, this most unusual of Triduum celebrations.
What I notice mostly is this: All of my “Holy Week” rhythms are “off” – completely out of whack.
Today’s find: Palms, becalmed
Got my alarm set for Sunday morning, so that I can take advantage of the “drive-thru distribution” of blessed palms up at the parish.
And thus begins the oddest Holy Week I have ever experienced.
Today’s find: Prized consolation
Say what you will, but Jesus certainly had this call correct:
While some people were speaking about how the temple was adorned with costly stones and votive offerings, Jesus said, “All that you see here – the days will come when there will not be left a stone upon another stone that will not be thrown down.”
Today’s find: No show
‘You got it all wrong.’
This uncomfortable notion turned out to be my main take-away (and perhaps the greatest blessing) of our visit a few months back to the Tel Arad National Park in Israel.
