“Too bad Thomas didn’t have Zoom…”
These days, that’s my initial reaction when I hear the gospel passage for the Second Sunday of Easter. (A familiar tale, yes? The story of Doubting Thomas who didn’t happen to be physically present when the Risen Christ makes one of his first appearances.)
In a blessedly sweet irony, Judy was not even “in the house” as the eyewitness reports came pouring in on the feast of St. Thomas.
The calendar says ‘spring,’ but you couldn’t prove it by the hue of the fairways as we opened the golf season this past week. The zoysia turf, still sporting a winter tint, made our league’s ‘home course’ resemble the Sahara more closely than Augusta during our first week of play.
So the other afternoon, the guy at the sandwich shop says to me, ‘Anybody ever tell you…you look like Tom Brokaw?’
