Today’s find: Resolutions

On retreat at King’s House this New Year’s Eve, where Fr. Mark Dean, OMI, has already blessed me with this thought-provoking observation…

God will not STEAL AWAY our hurts, our grudges, our disappointments… simply because God respects our freedom. (We are always free to keep holding them tight!)

But God will gladly REMOVE those hurts, when we give God our permission to do so.

Which raises some intriguing questions: What “2019” resentments am I still clutching?

What hurts do I cling to…as I peer into the New Year?

And wouldn’t my vision be a bit clearer in 2020…if I just asked God to help me let them go?

Let us remember that we are in the presence of the Holy & Merciful One.

There is a vulnerability and humility in the asking. What father would refuse a child?
The gift and grace of God is our faith.
    Happy New Year !

As usual you’re a few steps ahead of me. I took a little different look yesterday and just sat for a couple of hours and made a list of the blessings I found in my life this past year, quite a list. Perhaps I’ll have the wisdom to make a new list today. Thanks for being in my life, Happy New Year.

    • I like where you’re going with this, Joe: As I let go of my resentments, it opens up much more room in my heart ❤️ for gratitude 🙏…

  3. John, I just got back from the men’s retreat at King’s House. This was an amazing weekend and I believe one of the best retreats I’ve attended. This year’s retreat is entitled “The Greatest Love of All”. I will be processing this for awhile yet, but I feel so blessed to have made this my first priority this year. 63 men made the retreat and it was full house! FR Mark posted a video on YouTube. If you get a chance check it out. Just search for “Love Goes On Kings House”. It will bless you. I hope you have a Happy and Joyful New Year.

I keep reading these lines, “God will not steal away, but will gladly remove if given permission.” Why do we carry that weight around?! Lots to think about here. Thanks John
