Today’s find: O Wisdom

O Wisdom, you came forth from the mouth of the Most High and, reaching from beginning to end, you ordered all things mightily and sweetly.  Come, and teach us the way of prudence.

In these last days of Advent, we express our growing anticipation for the coming of the Savior with the O Antiphons — prayers, based on scripture texts, that have been part of the Church’s official evening prayer (or Vespers) for more than a thousand years.

For December 17, the title we use for Jesus is ‘Wisdom’…

O Wisdom, you came forth from the mouth of the Most High and, reaching from beginning to end, you ordered all things mightily and sweetly.  Come, and teach us the way of prudence.

Let us pause now…to recall that we are in the presence of the Holy & Merciful One.
